Wellness Wheel Questions

1. What part of my health am I most proud of and why?
I am most proud of the social part on the wellness wheel. This part is the part that I did the best on. I love to hang out with my friends and talk and play games. I also have really good friends that I can depend on and talk to about anything. I can tell them any secret of mine, knowing that they won't tell anyone.

2. What part would I like to improve the most and why?
I would like to improve my psychological wellness. I really need to just go down and do non-structured activities. Usually the only way I play a sport is having an assigned class. Only sometimes do I go down and play with my friends a friendly and quick games like capture the flag or cops and robbers.

3. How can I start making a change?
I can start just going down and playing. While usually I would ask my mom to arrange a class. I will also call down my friends.

Google Science Fair- August 16th

In science class our homework was to watch videos on the finalists in the Google Science Fair. After watching all the videos and seeing how many great invention kids have made I picked out one invention that I thought was the most useful and important invention, and then I voted for it on the Google Science Fair website.

I voted for the contestant Shrishti Asthana who is only 15 years old. Shrishti came up with a GREEN method to clean detergent water from industrial and domestic sources. The method that Shrishti came up with is the use of Nano ZnO assisted photo catalytic degradation using solar light. Not only does this method create clean water it also has a fast reaction time, a short treatment time, less cost, less exposure for workers, and non-toxic end products. What these things mean is that, using this method Shrishti will be able to clean water very fast and efficiently. This method to clean water will also not cost as much as other ways that peple clean water now days. This method will also make the workers life easier as they will not have lots of exposure. This method will create non-toxic end products which will be better for the earth. When Shrishti grows older she plans on commercializing this method after comparing it with GREEN methods, and then she will lower the costs so that even the weaker society can have clean water and benefit from her results.

I think that Shrishti came up with a very amazing method, and she is a good person to be lowering her costs so that people in the weaker society can have clean and safe water to drink, bathe in, and clean things with.

First Blog Post- Twins: Awesome Twosome

Awesome Twosome!

Or twin is like a head to a body. You both go together and without one another you wouldn’t be able to survive or be who you are today.

As a matter of fact, when I was born with a twin sister I was promised a sister for life and somebody to talk to when I’m sad or angry. Somebody who listens whether I have something dumb or interesting to say. Somebody to play with me when I’m alone or bored. Somebody to support me when I’m  in a fight or going through a tough time. Somebody to take care of me when I’m ill or hurt. Lastly, my twin is just like me. My twin is the answer to my wishes.

When I’m sick with high fever of 100 degrees fahrenheit (which is once in awhile) my twin always helps me get my my hot chicken soup. This soup always helps me get better. Additionally, when I’m at home on a Sunday afternoon, after finishing all my homework, sitting on the couch with nothing to do, my twin is always there for us to play Monopoly, dark room, Squash, or even go Swimming. When I have a terrible knock-knock joke or a ‘why did the chicken cross the road’ joke, my twin is always there to hear it from beginning to end. When I’ve had a fight with friends over someone be clingy or someone being irritating, my twin always knows the solution to fix the problem. The solution is usually to talk to my friend about the problem. Whenever I am in a fight with my parents my twin always takes my side and backs-me up. When I’m sad or angry from getting a bad grade my twin always knows how to cheer me up. The trick to cheer me up is to  which is to make me laugh. After a tough day of school, when we’re in bed my twin and I always gossip about what interesting things happened during our school day. Sometimes we talk about how annoying someone is or what big thing happened that the whole grade is talking about. Not to mention that my twin knows that I like pop music, lemon sorbet ice cream, teppanyaki food, hide and seek tag, cops and robbers, nail polish, swimming, squash, art, and sour candy... she knows everything about me, inside out.

My twin is me. A twerked different and maybe even a little better version of me. I learn new things from her everyday. I admire her. I love her... she is my twin.

Digital Citizenship Agreement

During Science class we learned about the Digital Citizenship Agreement. In this class there were five main topics that we learnt about...

1. Respect and Protect Yourself:

  • Be careful of your actions. Don't go around writing dumb or hurtful stuff.
  • Only write appropriate information. No inappropriate usernames or images.
  • Consider what you share with people on the internet because it may affect you late on in life.
  • Don't share ANY personal information online:
  • Number, email, address, age, school, passwords, accounts, etc.
  • Tell an adult if something bad is going on or you think that something isn't right.
  • Have a good balance between online and offline.

2. Respect and Protect Others:

  • Don't go online bullying people. And don't comment anything mean. Only say something that you would be able to say in public in front of someone's face, because it's way easier to say something rude online than offline.
  • Don't enter other people accounts or private spaces.
  • Don't share/ forward inappropriate materials. Don't post videos or pictures of people online.
  • Don't share any personal information of anyone online.

3. Respect and Protect Property:

  • Don't download computer viruses or other odd softwares.
  • Don't torrent or peer to peer.
  • Take care of the laptop and make sure that it stays in good shape.
  • Come to school with a fully charged battery, carrying it in the case that was given to us.
  • Don't leave my laptop unattended. Either leave it in my locker or with me in my hands.
  • Back up my data.

4. Respect and Protect Intellectual Property:

  • DON'T steal other people's hard work.
  • If you want pictures for a presentation or something don't just go on google and take any random photo, you have to make sure that the owner of this photo is allowing you to use their photo.
  • Don't just take songs or movies of random websites which give it to you for free, because then your torrenting and soon your computer will have viruses on it. It is also not fair to the owner of these things.

5. Why the Digital Citizenship Agreement (DCA) is important:
  • So that we know how to use our laptops properly and safely.
  • And know the guidelines.
