Flag Football!

Questions:

Were you a graceful winner and loser?
Yes, I was. I never over celebrated when I won. I said good job to the opposing team when they won. I also complimented people when they caught a really hard pass, or they scored a touch down.

Did you play by the rules?
Yes, I played by the rules. When ever someone pulled my flag I stopped running. Whenever I ran out of bounds I stopped running and put the ball down.

Did you share roles out evenly?

Not really. I didn't really get to do much. Mostly the other three boys on my team got most of the roles. I sometimes got a role, but only once or twice during the whole tournament.

Did you contribute as a good team member and strive to improve your skills?
I tried during every class and drill to do my best, but flag football isn't really my sport and I'm not that good at it. I think I contributed as a good teammate, because I always ran into open places and tried to distract the opposing team.

Could you perform a spiral pass?
Could you catch the ball? How well did you move on and off the ball?
I learned how to preform a simple and easy spiral pass. I could rarely catch the ball, catching is something I'm trying to work on. I moved pretty well on and off the ball. I always ran into an open space, so that people could throw the ball to me. I also distracted the opposing team to the most of my ability.

Cabbage Experiment- Extra Credit!

This is the first part of the Cabbage Experiment, when I divded the cabbage water into six glasses, then I added the substances to the glasses with cabbage water. Then I wrote down what colors the liquids in the cups turned.

This is when I put my home made strips into the substances, to find out if the substances are either acids or bases.

These are all the 10 strips that I dipped into different substances.

This is the last part when I glued all the strips onto my note book, and wrote which one of the substances were acids, and which one of them were bases.

Pictures

In Science we were finding the pH of substances using pH stirps and a probe. So here's a picture of Christine (my partner) and I finding the pH of substances!

The device between my partner and I is the probe.

pH Scale

The rainbow scale at the top of my post is called a pH scale. A pH scale is a scale that you use to measure how acidic or basic something is. This scale measures from 0 to 14, if the pH of a substance is 7 then that means that the substance is neutral. Neutral means that the substance is neither an acid nor a base. If the substance's pH is below 7 it means that the substance is an acid. If the substance's pH is higher than 7 then it means that the substance is a base. Usually acids are sour and bases are bitter. An acid is just really a compound that produces hydrogen ions (H+) when dissolved in water. But, what makes one acid a strong acid and another a weak acid? Well, a strong acid can produce more hydrogen ions than a weak acid. A bases is just really a compound that produces hydroxide ions (OH-) when dissolved in water. But, what makes one base a strong base and another a weak base? Well, a strong base can produce more hydroxide ions than a weak base. The pH scale is a logrithmic scale. Which means that a difference of one pH unit represents a tenfold change. This basically means that as the number value on the pH scale becomes lower, the substance becomes ten times more acidic. To find the pH of something you can either use a universal indicator solution or pH strips of paper. An indicator is a substance or chemical that changes color in the presence of an acid or a base. But a universal indicator isn't very precise and doesn't use the whole scale, it just uses the numbers 4-11.

Here is a song that I found on YouTube that really sums up most of the things that I talked about in this blog post: Acids and Bases Song

Greek Mythological Gods and Goddesses Game

Go to this url http://www.fineskids.net/?p=235 and click on the "Rome and Greek gods and goddesses game". This game is about the the Greek gods and goddesses and what they stand for. In the beginning of the game you get to create your own teacher, at the end of the game if you get all the 15 questions correct then you get to fling your teacher through a trebuchet.
