Water Project: Week 4

In my latest blog post on the water project, (water project: week 3), I was telling you how we were planning to do a lot that week. For example we said that we would:

1. Put the facts inside the balloons and tie the string on.
2. Get all materials for our art class.
3. Handout the balloons and flyers in Great World City.
4. Send out the email for sponsors on the climb-a-thon-.

From that day on we accomplished a lot of things:

1. We put the facts inside the balloons an tied and tied the string on. (This process was shown on another blogpost, that I posted earlier.)
2. We went to Great World City yesterday, and handed out all the balloons and flyers, educating the people about the water crisis.
3. We started our art class, and unfortunately today is our last day :(
4. We sent out the email for sponsors for the stair-a-thon-.

All we have left is to actually climb the stairs in our stair-a-thon, which we plan on doing today (later in the afternoon!)

We are almost done with our water project and so far we have raised $2,000+

Here are some photos of us in Great World City!

Here is me telling a man about what I'm doing and what the flyers and balloons are for.

Here is Riya telling a family about the water crisis, and handing giving the balloons to the kids.

Here is me telling a lady about the water crisis. The little girl in the purple dress had a sister name Anya!

Here is me giving a little kid a blue balloon, to spread awareness.

Here is Riya telling a lady about what the balloons and flyers are for.

Here is me talking to a lady about the water crisis.

Here is a lady reading the flyers and learning a lot.

Going to Great World City and trying to talk to people was hard at first, but after a while we learned the tricks:
1. Say that you AREN'T selling anything.
2. If they don't want to talk keep on following them and talk and walk.
3. Give the kids balloons and while the kids are looking at the balloon talk to the parents about the crisis.
4. Don't be shy.
5.  Have fun!

Water Project: Week 3 #2

In my last blogpost: 'Water Project: Week 3' I said that I would be making balloons with facts inside of them to handout in Great World City. Just yesterday I finished making my balloons with facts inside of them, and I wanted to share with you my process of making these balloons.

We first bought the balloons.

Then we put the facts that we made into the balloons.

Then we blew the balloons.

Then we tied the string around all the balloons.

As soon as you know it we were done with making 30 balloons with facts inside of them.

The End!

Math Geometry Project

Here is the glogster that Grace Johnson and I made. We made this glogster for a math project. Basically my teacher claimed he had a disease where he couldn't teach called teacher-i-dose (spelled something like that). So to not fail in our geometry unit, the students made presentations in pairs or groups of three on the methods and vocabulary. My partner and I had the topic of supplementary and complementary angles. In this presentation we had to add the definitions of supplementary and complementary angles, real life examples of complementary and supplementary angles, examples of complementary and supplementary angles, and a short quiz at the end on supplementary and complementary angles, to see what your audience learned. I hope you enjoy our presentation!

2. Get all materials for our art class.
3. Handout the balloons and flyers in Great World City tomorrow.
4. Send out the email for sponsors on the climb-a-thon-.

What we already did:
1. Made the flyers.
2. Made the facts that go inside the balloon.
3. Made the presentation that we are presenting to my mom's office (Standard Chartered Bank).
4. Bought the balloons and string.
5. Sent out the email about the art class.

Here is a copy of one of the flyers I made!

Week 1 Water Project

So far for this project I have made a team with my sister.

On my planner I wrote down that I would:
1. Finish brainstorming my ideas and then plan my ideas out.
2. Finish my planner.

Here are my ideas...

We have many ideas for raising awareness:
1. Buying balloons and putting facts inside of them.
2. Handing out flyers to raise awareness.

We also have a couple of ideas on how to raise money:
1. Present a video that we will make on the difference between the poor and our life and how much the poor have to go through to get. We will present this video to some of my mom's office people.
2. Have a art class for little kids and also teach them about the water crisis.

I think that so far we are doing well and that my sister and I are really going to make a change.

Solutions to the World Crisis!

My post on the padlet didn't really work so here is my real post.

Lutheran World Relief works with local partners to improve rural communities’ access to water, digging wells and drilling boreholes, building and restoring irrigation systems, providing clean drinking water during emergencies, and training communities on sanitation practices and water management.

  • $$35 provides an emergency water filter to a family coping with disaster.
  • $150 gives a family a gravity-fed water filter, allowing children to attend school rather than fetch water.
  • $500 fives an entire community a water system that provides clean water for drinking and bathing.
  • $2500 gives a community an irrigation system to water their fields and help them grow crops for years to come.
